Two flexible ShiftKey features built to help you fill last-minute shifts quickly

Our Broadcast Shift and Send Shift features give your facility more control and flexibility when filling shifts, especially urgent, hard-to-fill ones. Here’s how to use them to connect with independent professionals you trust or find new faces to help when you’re in a pinch.

The Send Shift feature

With the Send Shift feature, you handpick professionals one-by-one, giving you the most control over who provides care.

Common use cases for sending shifts

• You want to invite specific independent professionals to the shift. 
• You want to show appreciation to independent professionals who’ve already completed shifts at your facility by giving them new opportunities first. 
• You want to encourage specific independent professionals to return to your facility. 
• Your residents or employees prefer specific independent professionals.

How to send shifts

1. Find the shift that needs coverage. 
2. Select the “Send Shift” button. 
3. Use the dropdown menu to search for the independent professional you’d like to invite. (Type their name directly into the search box to find them quickly.)  
4. Select the “Send Invite” button.
5. Repeat if you want to send invites to multiple professionals. 

Alternatively, you can send shifts to a professional from their profile. 

1. Navigate to your preferred independent professional’s profile.
2. Select “Invite Professional,” found under their rating and Reliability Score. 
3. Select the shift from the pop-up menu.
4. The professional will be invited to claim the shift.

The Broadcast Shift feature

The Broadcast Shift feature lets the platform invite your preferred independent professionals (Broadcast to Favorites) or the most reliable independent professionals available in your area (Broadcast to Eligible Professionals).  

Common use cases for broadcasting shifts to your Favorites 

• Your shift starts in 48 hours or less, and you want to offer preferred independent professionals priority access. 
• You want a more automatic option than inviting professionals manually.
• You want your shift to reach a broader network.

Common use cases for broadcasting shifts to eligible professionals  

• You want to meet more reliable independent professionals. 
• You want your shift to have maximum reach.
• Your shift starts in 48 hours or less.

How to broadcast shifts 

You can invite up to 50 professionals total for each shift, mixing-and-matching invitation methods to suit your needs. For example, you could broadcast your shift to 10 Favorites and then broadcast it to nearby independent professionals with high Reliability Scores. 

1. Select a scheduled shift that starts within 48 hours. 
2. Send invites to Favorite professionals or eligible professionals.
3. Let the system do the rest. Monitor responses in real-time and make adjustments as needed.

You can also use the Broadcast Shift feature when posting a new shift that starts in 48 hours or less. Here’s how: 

1. Create a shift that starts in 48 hours or less.
2. Add the shift details.
3. Send invites to Favorite professionals or eligible professionals.
4. Let the system do the rest. Monitor responses in real-time and make adjustments as needed.

How to get started 

You can immediately start using our Send Shift feature to invite professionals who have previously requested shifts at your facility. However, to use our Broadcast Shift feature, you must have at least one Favorite independent professional, and Admin Assist must be enabled.  

Together, these features help you build a network of trusted independent professionals, set rules for automatic shift request acceptance, and help you offer shifts directly to independent professionals you prefer.
